With the participation of 6500 Runners from Around 100 Nationalities, The TriFactory Organized The Sixth Edition of Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon

For the sixth year in a row, The TriFactory is thrilled to organise the Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon, Egypt’s premier road running event. Set against the backdrop of the world’s last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World, the Great Pyramids of Giza, the event takes thousands of runners on a remarkable tour of the Pyramids Complex. Participants will experience the legendary pyramids of Pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, along with the six smaller pyramids built for their queens.

First inaugurated in 2019 with the attendance of key dignitaries, including HE Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth & Sports, HE Dr. Khaled El-Enany, Minister of Antiquities, and HE Dr. Rania Al-Mashaat, Minister of Tourism, the Pyramids Half Marathon has grown into a major event for both local and international participants. Each year, it welcomes thousands of runners from over 80 nationalities.

The TriFactory, Egypt’s leading organizer of mass participation sports events, is proud to announce that for the third year in a row, the Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon falls under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities, and the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority. The race is technically supervised by the Egyptian Athletics Federation, ensuring that all distances are organized to exact international standards, in line with major running races across the world.

In 2023, The TriFactory was also able to secure the AIMS (Association of International Marathons) certification for the Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon, officially placing the Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon on the global running race calendar. This certification ensures that all results are officially recognized by World Athletics, the international federation responsible for all running races and world records.

As well as these significant public and international partnerships, the Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon boasts a wide selection of corporate partners, chief among them being PUMA, the international sports giant, which has designed a limited edition race t-shirt featuring an exclusive illustration of the Pyramids for all participants. Other notable sponsors of the race include BP, Powerade, Bosch, Talabat, and of course title sponsor Marakez, the Egyptian real estate developer.

In addition to welcoming runners from all over the world, the Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon is suitable for runners of all ages, with the 5K race welcoming runners as young as 8 years old, and runners as old as 80 taking part across the three races. The Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon is a fun, challenging, and unforgettable #RaceThroughHistory, perfect for runners of all abilities.

It is worth mentioning that the medals presented to both participants and winners of the Marakez Pyramids Half Marathon 2024 are designed by the renowned Egyptian artist Mohamed Abla and supervised by Nour El-Demerdash, Partner & Creative Director at The TriFactory. Abla is considered one of Egypt’s most prominent contemporary visual artists, with a career that extends to working and teaching in several global destinations. This initiative aligns with The TriFactory’s ongoing efforts to shed light on Egypt’s cultural heritage through their year-long calendar of sports events.
